'House of Cue Cards' aired Tuesday night on the 'Tonight Show.'
Jimmy Fallon continues to churn out viral hits. On the same day as his moving tribute to late actor Robin Williams hit the air, gaining over 3 million views on Youtube, Fallon also produced another piece more in line with his more comedic ways. His newest spoof, House of Cue Cards, appeared on The Tonight Show on Tuesday night and has already hit the internet with hundreds of thousands of views.
The two-part parody, available here and here on NBC.com, is a clever spoof of Netflix’s hit series House of Cards. Fallon perfects his imitation of lead actor Kevin Spacey, talking in a Southern drawl and frequently addressing the camera directly, and Ellen Barkin appears in a cameo as his wife, played on the series by Robin Wright. The parody’s plot reveals The Tonight Show to be as politically charged as DC’s government, with Fallon receiving mysterious text messages throughout. When he finally agrees to meet the text’s author, he is pushed into a train by none other than a vengeful Jay Leno.
Kevin Spacey was quick to respond on social media. On Wednesday he tweeted the clip of the parody with the comment, “the next time you do a parody and call it House of Cue Cards actually using them would be a help.” He humorously signed the tweet with his character’s initials, FU.
