A 14-year-old Texas boy called mega retailer Wal-Mart his home for two days, USA Today reports.
Two avoid detection, the young man had constructed two separate campsites at a Walmart near Dallas. According to photos obtained by CBS 11 News, the boy, whose name has not been released, built a campsite behind boxes of strollers in the baby products aisle and another one behind rolls of paper towels and toilet paper.
Citing information from the Corsicana Police Department, WFAA reports that police were told by the boy’s aunt on July 28 that he had left her house. Upon contacting the boy’s mother, police found out that he had run away previously and had been located living in abandoned houses and businesses.
According to USA Today, the 14-year-old teen wore diapers and changed clothes in order to stay hidden. He was discovered on July 30.
“We just didn’t have any knowledge that this child was missing, and certainly not in one of our stores,” Wal-Mart spokesman Brian Nick told the Associated Press.
