Taylor Swift’s security causes big-time drama at the ‘Giver’ premiere

Television crews objected to restrictions placed on them at the red carpet event.

Taylor Swift’s stunning look at The Giver premiere on Monday almost didn’t make it on television. The New York Daily News reports exclusively that TV crews objected to regulations from Swift’s security crews and threatened to walk out on the premiere.

The Giver premiered at Zigfield Theatre in New York on Monday night and initially television crews were told they had to stay behind felt ropes to film the music superstar.

According to the Daily News, it took “some discussion and a threat of leaving” for security to ease the restrictions and allow the crews closer. However, their source insisted security’s presence continued to be elevated beyond usual red carpet levels due to Swift’s appearance.

According to Variety, despite the early confusion, the premiere was broadcast worldwide to live theaters for fans to enjoy, even as many of the stars of the film did not do on-carpet interviews. The film, based on the novel by Lois Lowry, was a longtime labor of love from star Jeff Bridges and also costars Meryl Streep and Katie Holmes.
