Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s mother was involved in a car accident with a drunk driver on Aug. 2 in Clermont, Florida, and the action star is using the crash to bring attention to the dangers that drunk drivers can present to themselves and others.

Ata Maivia-Johnson and her passenger, Lina Fanene, were driving in a white Escalade which Johnson gifted his mother a few Christmases ago, when a woman crashed into them. That woman was reportedly hospitalized and charged with a DUI. The Hercules star posted a picture of the two totaled cars on Facebook, and wrote:

“My mom and cousin (Lina Fanene) were struck head on by a drunk driver this week – they survived. My first reaction was to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them. But then you realize the most important thing is that my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days. Hug your own family that much tighter today and be grateful you can look them in the eyes and say, “I love you”. Bear hugs and gratitude. Drunk driving accidents are 100% preventable. #ChoicesMatter”

Johnson was finally able to take his mother home from the hospital on Tuesday, and posted a picture of himself and his mother on his Instagram page to update fans on her condition. In the image, Maivia-Johnson is seen wearing a cast on her left arm, and The Rock is pushing her out of the hospital as she sits in a wheelchair.

“Takin’ mama home. Banged up, but she’s a tough one and will make a full recovery,” Johnson stated in the picture’s caption. “Grateful to see her smile. And thank you guys for all the prayers, love and well wishes. #GratitudeAndBearHugs #ChoicesMatter #100PercentPreventable #DontDrinkAndDrive.”
