The rest of the shows feature a mix of shark experts, shark survivor stories, shark history and more shocking shark shots than you can imagine.
Get ready for shivers of sharks and more with The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, beginning tonight at 8 p.m. There’s even going to be a big-name celebrity appearance on the popular show, and no. It is not Rob Lowe.
Wrestlezone.com reports that none other than Dwayne, “The Rock” Johnson posted an introductory video on Instagram that’s going to be used for Shark Week. In it, The Rock pays tribute to his Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker. Walker studied marine biology before he went into acting and has been involved in Shark Week in the past.
“Was moved to shoot this very special intro to one of Paul Walker’s final missions for shark and marine conservation,” Johnson posted on Instagram. “#DiscoveryChannel #SharkWeek #ProtectingThatWhichILove #MissYouBrotherPaul.”
Walker was involved in Shark Week in the past and studied marine biology prior to becoming an actor. He also starred in 2010’s, Expedition Great White/Shark Men on the National Geographic channel
The Shark Week lineup also includes a variety of shark-infested shows like: Sharkageddon, starring surf legend Kala Alexander, Zombie Sharks, a show about tonic immobility and Great White Matrix, featuring shark-attack survivor Paul de Gelder and his cameraman, Andy Casagrande as they explore the dangerous and deadly waters of Australia. The rest of the shows feature a mix of shark experts, shark survivor stories, shark history and more shocking shark shots than you can imagine.
The notable, Megalodon: The New Evidence could be the one shark show this week that winds up jumping its own shark. Does new interview footage and evidence give credence to a theory surrounding the 2013 attack of a fishing vessel off the coast of South Africa? Everyone on board was killed, and a TV crew documented Marine Biologist Collin Drake as he worked to determine just what was responsible for the massacre at sea. Was it a gigantic, hungry shark or is this just another mockumentary? You will have to tune in to find out.
Now in its 27th-year, Shark Week is boasting a whopping 13 shows in all, paired with a live talk show every night.
