Miss Mississippi placed second in this year's competition.
Beauty pageant contestant K. Lee Graham, 17, was crowned Miss Teen USA on Saturday, according to E! Online. The competition was held at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas.
The leggy brunette, who hails from Chaplin, S.C., passed through the first round, in which a whopping 36 of the 51 contestants were cut.
Next came the swimsuit competition, after which, another 10 contestants were asked to leave the stage.
Five hopefuls remained, Miss California, South Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Mississippi, for the two-hour question and answer portion of the competition.
In the past this segment of the competition has produced some hilarious results, such as in 2007, when the former Miss Teen South Carolina stated that American’s poor geography skills are due a lack of maps, among other things.
“Some people out there in our nation that don’t have maps,” answered the young contestant back in 2007. “And I believe that our education, like such as South Africa, and the Iraq — everywhere like such as. I believe that they should — that our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. — or help South Africa — and should help Iraq and the Asian countries.”
2014’s Miss Teen South Carolina fared much better.
“I can’t even talk right now. This is literally a dream come true,” said Graham, shortly after winning. “Thank you for supporting me. We did it!”
Miss Teen USA K. Lee Graham earned her crown after impressing the judges with her beauty, personality and intelligence. Miss Mississippi was named runner-up.
