Palin has said that she herself will oversee any and all content published through the channel.
She has already been the subject of a reality television show about Alaska, not to mention plenty of media coverage andĀ Saturday Night LiveĀ spoofs. Now, Sarah Plain is reportedly launching her own subscription-based channel in an effort to get closer with her supporters.
According to an article published by The Associated Press, Palin – the former governor of Alaska and the one-time Vice Presidential running mate of Republican John McCain – has officially launched “the Sarah Palin Channel.” Based on the AP piece, Palin wants to have a direct link to her followers, without any “media filters” getting in the way and twisting her words, actions, or motivations around.
Palin’s urge to separate herself from the way the media perceives her is hardly surprising. The politician has been mocked almost endlessly since her GOP Vice Presidential bid in 2008, to the point where most people now see her almost as a caricature of herself. However, since the media is supposed to provide an unbiased and objective look at all candidates and politicians, Palin supporters will want to be careful to take any “Sarah Palin Channel” statements or information with a grain of salt.
In other words, the operation of this new channel will be anything but democratic. Palin has said that she herself will oversee any and all content published through the channel.
So exactly what sort of content will be making its way onto the Sarah Palin Channel? According to AP, the content will vary from Palin’s “own political commentary” to Q&A sessions and online video chats that will allow subscribers to communicate directly with the Alaska politician.
The subscriptions for the Sarah Palin Channel are either $9.95 per month or $99.95 per year.
