Report: Woman struck by car that drove through Comic-Con ‘zombie walk’

Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Citing police, KTLA reports that a 64-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by a car that drove through the Comic-Con “zombie walk” on Saturday.

NBC 7 San Diego reports that a deaf family was waiting for zombie walk participants to cross the intersection near the San Diego Convention Center.

“After waiting several minutes, the 48-year-old male driver slowly rolled forward, trying to get out of the area,” the San Diego Police Department said in a statement obtained by KTLA. “His children were afraid of the large crowd. Several people from the crowd of ‘zombies’ and other marchers surrounded and began punching the car.”

“The car windshield was shattered by the crowd,” police added. “The family was scared, so the father drove forward again, trying to get away from the angry crowd.”

The 64-year-old woman, who was participating in the zombie walk, was hit by the car as it moved forward.

According to KPLC-TV, the crowd applauded as police arrested the man.

The victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
