Maisie Williams, from the hit HBO television show based on the popular science fiction books written by George R. R.Martin, is rumored to be in line to portray the lead role in Sam Raimi’s upcoming movie, The Last of Us.

Although Williams has yet to officially accept the role, writer Niel Druckmann and producer Sam Raimi have revealed their intentions at the recent Comic-Con.

Maisie Williams is only 17 years old and has already accomplished a lot in her budding career including winning a host of awards, including several Portal and Young Artist awards. As a cast member on Game of Thrones, Williams portrays the young Arya Stark, the tomboy daughter of a noble family. It is this role that has gotten Williams the most acclaim.

In addition to her work on Game of Thrones, she has portrayed other strong female characters in a variety of television and film roles, including the role of Loren Caleigh, a young girl who’s family moved into a haunted building, in the BBC series The Secret of Crickley Hall.

Williams maintains a very active social media presence, especially on Twitter. There she posts regularly, sometimes about seemingly every day things like conflicts with major airline carriers. She has over 300,000 Twitter followers, making her one of the more popular Game of Thrones actors on social media.

This fan interaction on Twitter has helped bring Williams to the forefront of the public eye. Although the producers of The Last of Us have not officially indicated so, having the social media following that she does has been cited as evidence of the star’s rapid success.
