This years sneak peak of Wonder Woman at Comic Con left fans wanting more as excitement for her first appearance on the big screen intensifies.
This past week nerd culture took over San Diego for the annual Comic Con festivities — a handful of days dedicated to celebrating everything from the obvious, comics, to TV, movies and video games. The biggest things to come out of Comic Con are always the exclusives, which is why everyone cannot stop talking about the first look at the new Wonder Woman.
It is hard to believe that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be the first time Wonder Woman will appear on the big screen. Maybe DC felt the pressure to bring a leading lady into the limelight since Marvel has Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in The Avengers’ series.
Played by Gal Gardot, this generation’s woman with the Lasso of Truth is a far cry from the one from the 1970’s played by Lynda Carter. She isn’t a cute girl in a wholesome-yet-sexy outfit. No, Gardot’s Wonder Woman looks like a warrior – like they took the classic character and ran her through the Xena bootcamp.
Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder shared the picture of Gardot all decked out while they were discussing the movie at their Comic Con panel. Fans were not disappointed, and it created even more hype for the film that is still about two years out from its release date.
Gardot is ecstatic to play the iconic character, and she should be. This is her first major role after having bit parts in a couple Fast & Furious films. Well, her life just took a drastic turn as she’s got Batman vs. Superman, and the announced Justice League and Wonder Woman movies as well.
