After actress Charlize Theron wore an expensive Anito Ko ring on her left ring finger to Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, rumors began to fly that the South African beauty is now engaged to her beau, actor Sean Penn.

These reports are false, according to the Los Angeles Times.

While Theron, 38, did wear the ring on a very specific finger, reports indicate that she actually purchased it for herself. The ring retails for around $5,000.

Before such information became known, Us Weekly claimed the couple were engaged and looking to exchange vows next summer. The same outlet reported that the two were also looking to adopt another child.

Theron and Penn, 53, began dating early this year, after nearly 20 years of friendship. The pair first made their relationship public in January when they attended a fundraiser for his Haiti charity together.

Penn has two children from his previous marriage to actress Robin Wright. Theron has one son, 2, who she adopted as a single mother.

The actor’s daughter, Dylan Penn, 23, was questioned about the engagement rumor by Us Weekly. “I don’t even know. I have no idea.”

“They’re a great couple. They’re both very happy and yeah, I love it,” she added, referring to the idea of them being together.

Neither Theron nor Penn have commented publicly on the engagement rumors.
