An 80-year-old man shot and killed one of two burglars he discovered in his house, The Associated Press reports.

However, the case is a bit more complicated than a normal home invasion. Citing a local news station, The AP points out that Tom Greer himself admitted to shooting the female burglar in the back even though he knew she was pregnant.

“She says, ‘Don’t shoot me, I’m pregnant — I’m going to have a baby,’ and I shot her anyway,” Greer told NBC4 Wednesday. “She was dead. I shot her twice, she best be dead..[her accomplice] had run off and left her.”

Prior to shooting and killing one of the robbery suspects, The AP notes, Greer was attacked by the burglars. They hit him and broke his collar bone by tackling the 80-year-old man to the floor.

According to NBC4, Long Beach police are working to determine whether any charges will be filed against Greer for the shooting.
