Lana Del Rey admits to ‘sleeping with a lot of guys in the industry’

Singer's recent interview in Complex magazine reveals new sides to her psyche.

Lana Del Rey continues to give the public something to talk about. The singer, born Lizzy Grant, gave a lengthy interview to Complex magazine for its latest issue to promote her new album Ultraviolence, and some of the quotes already have people buzzing.

For example, when asked about her song F—ed My Way to the Top, Del Rey explained, “It’s commentary, like, ‘I know what you think of me,’ and I’m alluding to that…I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying.”

It is unclear from the article if the comment was made jokingly or in earnest.

Despite her incredible sales numbers—her last album Born to Die sold more than 7 million copies—Del Rey’s latest publicity has really come from her interviews. In an interview with the Guardian published in June, Del Rey told the reporter, “I wish I was dead already…I don’t want to keep doing [everything]. But I am.”

Perhaps fortunately for her, Del Rey seems to have come to a sense of equilibrium about the nature of her fame. When asked in Complex about the “very personal” scrutiny she’s undergone, she replied, “The good thing about catching so much grief from critics is that you literally do not f—ing care…what I expect now from my career [is] that the music is going to be great and the reaction’s going to be f—ed up.”

Only time will tell what the reaction to her latest quotes will be.
