Woman receives $100 ticket for stopping to rescue stranded ducklings

She was issued the ticket on Friday.

Sometimes being a good Samaritan doesn’t pay, especially when you stop your car in the median on a busy highway and rescue ducklings.

A Newfields, New Hampshire, woman received a $100 ticket from Massachusetts State Police after stopping to help some feathered friends, WMUR-TV reports.

She was driving on Route 101 on Friday when she narrowly missed the ducklings.

“I could hear them peeping, and I looked over the right hand side of the road, and I saw that their mom had been hit and was dead on the side, so I couldn’t just continue on,” 33-year-old Hallie Bibeau told WMUR-TV.

According to The Associated Press, a law enforcement officer gave Bibeau a ticket for pulling her car over in the median, an area which authorities say should only be used in emergencies.

In June, a Canadian woman was found guilty of causing a fatal crash after stopping her car in the left lane of the highway to rescue several ducks. A motorcyclist ran into her car and died.

Did this woman deserve a ticket? Sound off in the comments section.
