Her husband has earned $106 million in speaking fees since exiting the White House in 2001.
There’s been a lot of talk lately about how much former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is worth, how much she makes per speaking engagement and whether she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, are “truly well off.”
Most of that discussion is Clinton’s fault. In June, during an interview with the Guardian, Clinton told the newspaper that the American voters “don’t see me as part of the problem, because we pay ordinary income tax, unlike a lot of people who are truly well off.”
According to a report released by Bloomberg on Monday, Clinton has pulled in $12 million in 16 months since leaving Foggy Bottom. An analysis of data conducted by Bloomberg reveals that most of Clinton’s earnings since February 2013 have come from her latest book, speeches and paid appearances.
President Clinton has also done well for himself in the speaking arena, earning $106 million in speaking fees since exiting the White House in 2001.
What do you think of Clinton’s millions in earnings since leaving the State Department? Will Clinton’s wealth impact and her framing of the discussion involving her wealth impact her image? Sound off in the comments section.
