Hacked? EPA’s Office of Water tweets about Kim Kardashian app

The EPA has yet to respond to the incident.

The Kardashians really are everywhere. On Monday night, Kim Kardashian made a surprise appearance on the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water’s Twitter feed. According to the Huffington Post, the tweet, which has since been deleted, read “I’m now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. Come join me and become famous too by playing on Iphone!”

Kardashian has made headlines recently with the massive success of her free app, Kim Kardashin: Hollywood, developed with Glu Mobile. According to NBC News, the app was the second most downloaded free app during its week of release. Users of the app can buy Kardashian accessories with real money, providing a direct money stream to Kardashian, who is estimated to have made $85 million off the release so far.

As for the EPA, the Huffington Post deduced that either its Twitter feed was hacked or that its social media manager may have accidentally tweeted a private message onto his or her professional page. Either way, the tweet has drawn plenty of responses from the humorous to the critical. For example, Texas representative Steve Stockman went for both angles, tweeting “ I hope the Kardashians don’t mind being associated with something that spends millions without contributing to society @EPA water.”

The EPA has yet to respond to the incident.
