Held in California last night, The TCA awards honored Breaking Bad with the Program of the Year award.
AMC’s hit television show Breaking Bad was given the prestigious Program of the Year award at Saturday night’s 2014 Television Critics Association Awards.
The event was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The event was hosted by Terry Crews, who is known for his acting work, on shows like Everybody Hates Chris, and his commercial appearances in the Old Spice commercials.
The Television Critics Association Awards started in 1985 and are distributed annually. It recognizes current television shows in a variety of categories including Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, and the coveted Career Achievement Award.
Television show Breaking Bad follows a high school chemistry teacher by the name of Walter White who starts to sell meth on the black market to help secure his family’s finances after feeding a diagnosis that he has terminal lung cancer.
The show is often highly rated and awarded with titles like the “Best Show of All Time.” In fact, the show entered the prestigious Guinness World Records as the highest rated show of all time.
Several spin-offs and adaptations of the series have began. An opera based on the series is rumored to be in the process of creation by Sung Jin Hong. In 2013, Univision revealed that it was creating a Spanish language version for a new audience.
AMC is also making a spin-off series called Better Call Saul that is scheduled to air sometime in 2015. This series follows the lawyer Saul Goodman before his time on Breaking Bad.
