Beyonce announced, through a video clip published on the social media site Instagram, her involvement in the upcoming movie, Fifty Shades of Grey.

The short video appears to be a trailer for the actual film’s trailer that will be released on Thursday, July 24, 2014. It features a snippet of the singer’s well-known song “Crazy in Love.” This track happened to be her first number one single as a solo artist in the United States, so even hearing a small portion of it, fans will be able to identify the song as hers.

There is speculation that Beyonce’s husband, celebrity rapper Jay-Z, will develop the soundtrack for the movie, as he did for The Great Gatsby. Jay-Z’s influence helped bring The Great Gatsby movie, set in the 1920s, into a modern era. If Jay-Z is set to develop the soundtrack for this new movie as well, then more of Beyonce’s well known songs may make their way into the Fifty Shade of Grey movie.

The film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey is highly anticipated by fans of the book by the same name.  The book’s mainstream success, skyrocketing to the top of many international bestseller lists, as erotic fiction has set the bar high. The book series originally started as fan fiction written by E L James, a first-time novelist from the UK. It follows the character of college student Ana Steele and her relationship with wealthy, young entrepreneur, Christian Grey. The romantic pair enter into a controversial BDSM relationship with each other.
