Country star Tim McGraw slapped a female fan trying to get too close. He was performing at a concert in Atlanta when a fan grabbed onto him and ripped his pants while he was interacting with fans. McGraw smacked her away, and she was removed by security. There is a video of the incident online, but no charges are being pressed. Police say his actions were justified and the woman didn’t complain. The singer is currently on an international tour and has a new album being released in September, titled Sundown Heaven Town.

McGraw, 47, is married to fellow country singer Faith Hill, with whom he has three daughters. Both are successful artists in their own right, having sold millions of albums. He isn’t the first musician to deal with fans who try to cross boundaries. Taylor Swift dealt with a fan who rushed on the stage, and  Beyonce and Wiz Khalifia also dealt with similar fan incidents last year. McGraw is known for having zero tolerance for unruly behavior, and has made headlines in the past for wild fan encounters, including breaking up fights. In this particular incidence, his rep said, “He was simply trying to keep his pants from being torn.”

The video was posted on TMZ, a tabloid news site, and had more than one recording. The Atlanta police said McGraw’s reaction was a common one in that type of situation and he isn’t in legal trouble. However, the fan slap was not the only encounter at the concert. The singer did a personal serenade for another fan, whom he invited on stage. Country music concerts can get rowdy, but McGraw has none of it, and calls out bad behavior. In the case of the fan trying to grab his crotch, she got slapped instead.
