Former Playboy model Jenny McCarthy: ‘The View’ is a ‘stepping stone’ for me

The 41-year-old mother of one said she never felt she could be herself on "The View."

Former Playboy model Jenny McCarthy will exit The View, along with Sherri Shepherd, in August when her contract expires.

In a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, McCarthy talked about her time on ABC’s daytime talk show and what the opportunity to work with recently-retired Barbara Walters really meant to her.

“The most rewarding [part of The View] has definitely been working with Barbara Walters for a year, I mean work[ing] under her and just … asking her questions backstage has been the most intriguing thing,” McCarthy, who will marry Donnie Wahlberg later this year, told Stern.

Despite the opportunity to work with a media legend, the 41-year-old mother of one said she never felt she could be herself on The View.

“I’ll tell you something Howard, it’s like halfway into it, it was probably around February, I went, ‘God I’m not allowed to be the best of me here,’ I feel like to have a voice, to be able to speak without having to interrupt people,” McCarthy explained. “It’s very difficult, and I don’t like doing it, it’s very uncomfortable, so I felt like, ‘You know what? Maybe this is just a stepping stone for me to go somewhere where I can actually be my full self.'”

After her gig on The View wraps up, McCarthy will host a SiriusXM radio show called Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy.
