Palin wants to impeach Obama over his immigration policies.
Sarah Palin was criticized for calling to impeach President Obama by Attorney General Eric Holder.
Palin wants to impeach Obama over his immigration policies. “It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment,” Palin wrote last week on Breitbart.com.
However, Holder, who himself has been the target of impeachment calls, believes Palin’s accusations do not constitute the President’s impeachment. He said on ABC’s This Week, “she wasn’t a particularly good vice presidential candidate [in 2008]. She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why.”
This is not the first issue over which Palin has called to impeach Obama. The Huffington Post reported last year she wanted to impeach him over raising the national debt ceiling.
“The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored,” Palin wrote last week. “If after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.”
Holder attributes the lack of trust that some Republicans have toward Obama as primarily the fault of those Republicans, because they “decided early on that this was a president they were just simply not going to cooperate with,” Holder told Pierre Thomas of ABC News. He continued, “over the past five-and-a-half years, we have seen demonstrations of that, where the president has reached out his hand, offered compromises that have simply not been met [in the way] they have been in the past by a Republican Party willing to do the appropriate things.”
Other Republican leaders, including Ohio representative John Boehner, say they do not support calls for Obama’s impeachment; however, Boehner does plan to sue Obama over his changes to the healthcare law.
Holder took issue with this as well, saying, “Filing a lawsuit against the president that has no basis is not going to improve the quality of life for the American people.”
