Donald Trump on possible closure of Trump Plaza casino: ‘I have nothing to with it’

New York real estate magnate Donald Trump doesn't want to be blamed for what's happening to the Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City.

The owners of Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza casino told The Associated Press on Saturday that they expect to shuts its doors in September.

Reuters reports that the decision could impact 1,000 workers.

Although his named may be attached to the building, New York real estate magnate Donald Trump doesn’t want to be blamed for what’s happening to it.

“I let them use my name, but I got out seven years ago,” Trump told the New York Daily News. “I have nothing to do with it. We may have to do something about the name.”

According to The AP, the Trump Plaza casino wouldn’t be the first casino to go if it closes in September. The Atlantic Club shut its doors in January, the Showboat is closing in August and the Revel may be headed down the same path.

Was The Apprentice star surprised by the news of the Trump Plaza casino’s impending shutdown? No, not really.

“There’s been a lot of bad decisions made in Atlantic City over the years,” Trump added. “Bad choices.”
