The door to the coroner's van malfunctioned.
A dead body fell out of a coroner’s van onto a busy road in Pennsylvania on Friday, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.
Bucks County resident Jerry Bradley posted a photo of the body, wrapped in a white sheet and lying on a gurney, positioned in the middle of a road as cars drive by.
Citing a news release, the Bucks County Courier Times says that as soon as the driver of the coroner’s van realized that the door had malfunctioned, he returned to the scene and lifted the body with the help of a witness back into the vehicle.
“Care was taken to respect the deceased individual in this instance. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office deeply regrets this incident and will take steps to ensure that it is not repeated in the future,” a statement from the Bucks County Coroner’s Office read.
