One year after Cory Montieth’s untimely death, his father, Joe Montieth, talks about how he’s still grieving Cory’s death.

Joe Montieth talked to ET Canada about how he still misses his son, and his “the empty feeling” about losing Cory. Although he’s been divorced from Cory’s mother, Ann McGregor since 1989, he says that she’s planning on sending him some of Cory’s personal items.

He also shared a lot of positive comments for Cory’s then girlfriend, Glee actress Lea Michele, who has started to date again. He said that she should “enjoy life,” as she’s reaching the top of her acting and singing career.

ET Canada also interviewed Joe Montieth last year when the news of Cory’s death first broke. Last year Joe Montieth spoke of how devastated he was that his son had died and how they didn’t really know the extent of Cory’s drug use.

Cory Montieth died on July 13^th last year at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver of a heroin and alcohol overdose. He was dating fellow Glee cast member Lea Michele at the time. Additionally, he spent some time in drug rehab a few months before his death.

Some fans have been updating fan memorial sites since Cory’s death last year, including Tumblr pages that publish original artwork of the late star. A few of his Glee costars have also spoken out in remembrance of Cory, including Jane Lynch, who called him a “bright light” and disclosed that they still have a picture of him in the set’s choir room.
