Joy Behar said that Hasselbeck should "explain herself."
Rosie O’Donnell’s return to The View is not surprisingly being criticized by the right, including the likes of businessman Donald Trump and former co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
On Wednesday, when Rosie’s return to The View still wasn’t official, Hasselbeck ripped O’Donnell and told Fox & Friends that she “could not be more thankful” to have moved on from Barbara Walter’s show.
“Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there, coming back with a bunch of control ready to regain a seat at the View table,” Hasselbeck said.
Joy Behar, also a former co-host on The View, later told CNN’s Don Lemon that Hasselbeck should “explain herself.”
“What does she mean by that? And isn’t it kind of a nasty thing to say about somebody who basically is a good person?” Behar said.
“I thought that was really kind of below the belt-to say that she spits in the face of the military… That’s a dangerous thing to say about somebody. … I think it’s a hate-filled remark. And she should explain it.”
Hasselbeck was referencing a major disagreement that she and O’Donnell had on the show back in 2007 about the Iraq War.
