Donald Trump says the show "really missed not having Barbara on it."
Former co-host Rosie O’Donnell is officially returning to The View, according to an announcement made on the show’s Twitter account Thursday morning.
New York businessman Donald Trump had mixed feelings about Rosie’s return to the long-running talk show.
“I think it’s a good move on ABC’s part,” Trump told the New York Daily News’ Confidenti@l. “It’ll have a short term positive effect. The show has really missed not having Barbara on it. With that said, it’ll have a short term positive impact, but then you have the long term. Rosie always self-destructs.”
Rosie and Trump famously sparred via Twitter in 2011.
Current co-hosts Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd will be leaving when their contracts expire in August.
While O’Donnell will fill one of the empty chairs, there is still speculation as to who will fill the second opening.
Meghan McCain, Senator John McCain’s daughter, has been mentioned as a possible replacement. She will guest-host on the show next Monday, according to TheWrap.
McCain’s conservative voice is seen as a possible counterbalance to O’Donnell’s liberal viewpoint.
