The Travel Channel postpones new show indefinitely after its star makes controversial Instagram comments
Adam Richman’s new series Man Finds Food has been postponed indefinitely, one day before it was scheduled to air its first episode. The Travel Channel has yet to release a statement explaining their reasons for postponing the show, but the decision comes shortly after Richman landed himself in the middle of some serious online controversy.
“It’s been postponed, but we have no further comment on that,” said Amelie Tseng, a spokesperson for the Travel Channel.
Last week, Richman posted a photo showcasing his slimmed-down body on Instagram with the caption, “Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I’m gonna need to take it in a little…. #Victory #EyesOnThePrize #AnythingIsPossible #fitness #transformation #thinspiration.” While most fans praised him for the recent weight loss, several accused Richman of glorifying negative body images.
When people started attacking him for the “thinspiration” hashtag, Richman posted several comments which contained expletives. His most controversial comment, however, was “Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.”
Richman issued an apology on today’s Good Morning America, saying, “I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I’m incredibly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt.”
There is no word on when or if the show, which follows Richman on his quest to find hidden food treasures, will eventually premiere.
