The Google-owned video platform will support faster video playback and has launched the Creator Studio app on Android; an iOS version will arrive in a few weeks.
The long-anticipated new features coming to YouTube were finally confirmed and include support for playback rates of up to 60 frames per second and the new Creators Studio app to manage videos.
No date for the new features has been released, but it is expected in the coming months, according to reports.
Google timed its official announcement with the VidCon conference in Anaheim, Calif., attended by thousands of video creators.
Creators Studio lets users check out analytics and manage videos while Creator Credits allows shout outs for collaborators in the video descriptions. YouTube wrote: “Did you know that after Rebecca Black uploaded “Friday,” she went on a school trip, not knowing for several days the video was going viral? …The new YouTube Creator Studio app lets you see analytics, manage your videos and more.”
Creators Studio is already available on Android and will be available in iOS “in the coming weeks,” according to YouTube.
The YouTube 15 will be a new weekly show on Sirius-XM’s Hits 1 hosted by Jenna Marbles that will spotlight the trending and buzzing videos on YouTube.
Also added will be an Audio Library, fan funding capability and subtitles from fans. YouTube noted in its blog that “a handful of creators are testing this feature soon on desktop and Android, including Dulce Delight, Fitness Blender, The Healthcare Triage,The King of Random, Soul Pancake, Steve Spangler Science, The Young Turks, and Thug Notes.”
Other improvements announced include interactive information cards with a cleaner look that will work across desktop and mobile devices. YouTube also said it would add more ways to create playlists to boost discovery of content.
