Jay Z, Beyonce's new tour uses Justin Bieber's mugshot, sparks controversy

Some Bieber fans felt that the display was disrespectful.

Performers Jay Z, 44, and Beyonce, 32, flashed an image of pop star Justin Bieber’s mugshot during a recent stop on their On the Run tour, reports Gawker.

The husband-and-wife team were in Miami on Wednesday night, performing at the Sun Life Stadium in support of Beyonce’s 2013 self-titled release, and Jay Z’s Magna Carta…Holy Grail.

During the concert, after performing “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” Beyonce stated that “even the greatest fall.” An image of Justin Bieber’s mugshot was then shown on the giant screen behind her and Jay Z.

It wasn’t just Bieber’s arrest record that was highlighted, but also Bill Gates and Tupac Shakur, among others.

This mattered little too many of Bieber’s fans who responded on Twitter.

“The fact that @justinbieber‘s mugshot was shown at @Beyonce‘s concert followed by ‘even the greatest fall.’ that’s just f–ked,” wrote one fan.

Still, other fans interpreted the gesture a different way.

“‘Even the greatest can fall’ Beyoncè (sic) basically called Justin the greatest,” wrote another.

“But it’s disrespectfull (sic) to show bad situation someone!!! (sic)” countered another.

Bieber, 20, has not made a public comment about his mugshot being used, but he did retweet a tweet that displayed a photo of his mugshot in use during the concert — meaning that he (or his team) are aware of the act.

The tweeter, by a user who goes by the handle “Justin Bieber Babes,” writes that he or she “wonders if (Bieber is) excited” by the revelation.

Beyonce and Jay Z continue their tour Sunday in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Great American Ball Park.
