Hip hop artist Rick Ross arrested in North Carolina

Greensboro policed picked up the rapper after he failed to appear in court.

Members of the Greensboro Police Department arrested hip hop artist Rick Ross after he performed at a local concert, according to USA Today.

Police took Ross, 38, whose real name is William L. Roberts, into custody Friday night after he finished his set at the SuperJam concert.

According to Greensboro Police Department spokesperson Susan Danielson, the arrest warrant was issued after Ross failed to appear before the court for a prior misdemeanor marijuana charge.

He was later released from jail after paying a $1,000 bond.

Reports indicate that the misdemeanor marijuana charge was for possession.

It is unclear what caused Ross to miss his scheduled court appearance. Attempts by the Associated Press to seek comment from Ross’ representatives were unreturned.

Ross next heads to Los Angeles, to perform at the Staples Center Monday night. He plays one date in Rochester in mid-July before heading to France for a show on July 23.
