From the stage to the cell block: Rick Ross arrested after North Carolina performance

Following another rocky tour incident, the rapper left his North Carolina performance in handcuffs for charges he received in the same town last year.

It seems as if this may be a good time for a Rick Ross intervention.

The only after party he attended following his recent concert performance was one with Greensboro, North Carolina police. They arrested the Miami rapper after he finished his set at the annual SuperJam concert, which took place at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Authorities there say the courts issued an arrest warrant because the 38-year-old rapper did not appear for a misdemeanor marijuana charge from his SuperJam visit last year. Greensboro police state the rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was very cooperative. He never actually made it to jail: Ross was reportedly taken to the magistrate’s office where he paid a $1,000 bond.

It’s unclear why the rapper did not appear in court for his initial hearing. As of now, there is no word on his next court hearing.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that controversy has surrounded a Rick Ross show performance. Just last week, Ross cancelled a performance at Detroit’s Summer Jamz concert. According to The Source, conflicting reports indicate that Rick Ross was mobbed on by over 100 people who were peacefully blocked from entering the venue. Some are crediting local rapper Trick Trick‘s “No Fly Zone” record–which is meant to dissuade the city from allowing rappers who don’t collaborate with local Detroit acts from entering the city–as the reason Ross didn’t go on stage. However, Ross denies that rumor, saying that the gates to the entrance of the venue were locked.

It doesn’t appear this arrest will affect any future dates. Ross will next perform at the Staples Center in Los Angeles before heading to Rochester in mid-July and flying to France for a performance on July 23.
