With a late summer release date approaching, Paramount Pictures has ramped up promotion for the newest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.
In a YouTube video announcement on Monday, actress Megan Fox, who plays April O’Neil in the upcoming movie, invited fans to hashtag the name of their favorite turtle via Twitter to unlock that character’s exclusive poster. The voting resulted in the characters Leonardo and Michelangelo getting the most nods, with Raphael and Donatello close behind.
The four new posters have givenĀ fans a better look at the shell-bound heroes, revealing full body portraits of each one in great detail. Previous character posters focused solely on the different weapons that the Turtles prefer to use in combat, but these new versions show off much more of the iconic characters, including their costumes.
Following the reveal of the new one-sheets, the latest trailer for the film was also released this week, showcasing the Turtles in action, as well asĀ their nemesis Shredder and the Turtles’ rat sensei mentor, Splinter.
The new ‘Turtles’ movie is an update of the popular comic book series of the 1980s, one which spawned three live-action films in the 1990s as well as three different animated TV series, the latest of which currently airs on Nickelodeon. The Turtles are a billion dollar franchise worldwide with merchandise ranging from toys to video games and various other media.
The new film reboots the origin story of four anthropomorphic turtles named after famous artists of the Renaissance who team up to fight crime on the streets of New York City. It is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company. The film stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner and Whoopi Goldberg.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released in both 2D and Real-D 3D versions on August 8.
