While America considers the possibility of another Clinton running for the presidency in 2016, it will probably be many years before the country sees another Obama campaigning for the nation’s highest office or any political office for that matter.
Contrary to rumors, First Lady Michelle Obama says she has no interest in going into politics when her husband’s second term ends.
“No, it will not be political. It definitely will not be. It will be mission-based, service-focused,” Obama said during an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts when asked about her post-White House future.
Michelle has used the power of the Office of the First Lady to spearhead a number of important programs. Her Let’s Move! initiative, for example, is aimed at solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier through better food in schools and more physical activity.
The first lady and Dr. Jill Biden have also helped support military families via the Joining Forces initiative. The initiative is an effort to engage all sectors of society to give members of the military and their families the opportunities and support they have earned.
