Kurt's daughter Frances Bean wasn't pleased with Lana's comments.
Lana Del Rey needs a good PR person stat.
The singer is in the midst of a controversy surrounding Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. In a recent interview with a Guardian reporter, Rey said, “I wish I was dead already.” The comment came after the reporter referenced the late Cobain, as well as singer Amy Winehouse.
Frances Bean, Kurt’s daughter, took offense and decided to respond to Rey on Twitter, writing, “The death of young musicians isn’t something to romanticize.” She added, “I’ll never know my father because he died young, and it becomes a desirable feat because people like you think it’s ‘cool.’ Well, it’s f**king not.”
Wishing to clarify her comments, Rey responded to Bean via Twitter.
“It’s all good,” Rey. “He [the person who interviewed her] was asking me a lot about your dad.”
“I said I liked him because he was talented not because he died young.”
Lana has since deleted all tweets prior to Jun. 18.
Was Lana’s comment on Cobain and Winehouse taken out of context or did she simply say something she shouldn’t have?
