Bergdahl arrived in the United States on Jun. 13.
The New York Daily News reports that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who spent five years in captivity in Afghanistan, has left the Texas military hospital where he was receiving treatment and will continue receiving treatment at an outpatient facility in San Antonio.
“It’s a slow decompression to bring him up slowly and reintroduce him to what’s been transpiring over the past five years,” said Army Col. Ron Wool in a statement released by the U.S. Army.
Bergdahl, whose rescue has stirred up some controversy, arrived in the United States on Jun. 13. His family was not on hand for his arrival in the Lone State state.
According to a recent report from NBC News, Bergdahl is slowly receiving information about the controversy surrounding his release. The gradual exposure to the media coverage is part of his reintegration and recovery process.
The former prisoner of war was freed on May 31 in exchange for five Taliban leaders.
How will Bergdahl be viewed by the media and the American public once his treatment process is complete? Was it a good trade? Start a conversation by sharing your thoughts in the comments section.
