With a ferris wheel, bounce house, and celebrities, it was a party to be envied at playgrounds everywhere.
It may be a week late, but the first birthday celebration for Kim and Kayne’s daughter seemed worth the wait.
North West’s big bash was dubbed “Kidchella,” after the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Since she is too young to attend the real thing, her parents brought the festival to her — complete with a Ferris wheel, bohemian attire, teepees, food carts, a bounce house, and even a musical performance by aunts Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Baby North’s birthday was officially last Sunday, June 15. But with Kanye fresh off his Bonaroo appearance and Father’s Day coinciding with the date, the family had a low-key weekend with the promise that big things were to come.
Of course, it wasn’t without some social media drama. North’s aunt Khloe Kardashian was snapped a few times wearing a traditional Native American headdress. “Ray of clouds. Chirping of birds. Gurgling of water. Granting desire. One with water. #Kidchella my first Coachella!!!” she wrote, captioning one photo. Fans voiced their disgust with the headdress, with some saying, “We are a culture, not a costume.” Stars Pharrell Williams and Ireland Baldwin have also recently received backlash for publicly wearing similar attire. However, it did not take the spotlight away from North.
The festivities took over the backyard of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s new home in Calabasas, which was formerly owned by Justin Bieber. Party-goers received tie-dyed wristbands as they entered the party, and custom Yeezus t-shirts as party favors on their way out.
Judging from the pictures, it looked like a party North will wish she could remember.
