Jill Duggar marries Derick Dillard.
The 19 Kids and Counting star Jill Duggar married her fiance Derick Dillard on Saturday, June 21. Over 1,00o guests were in attendance for the ceremony at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas. A viewing station at the reception allowed guests to see Jill’s mother’s wedding dress from almost 30 years ago, as well as Dillard’s late-father Rick’s police uniform.
The Duggar children were heavily involved in the wedding. Two of Jill’s brothers were groomsmen, and five of her sisters were bridesmaids. The younger ones served as flower girls, ring bearers and ushers.
The wedding gift registry included a rather peculiar assortment of gifts, including a shotgun, rifle and cereal. According to People, the couple is celebrating their honeymoon at an undisclosed location. Jill, 23, and Derick, 25, got engaged in April of this year.
Jill’s father, Jim Bob, was not at all surprised when Derick came to the house to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Her mother, Michelle, and Jim Bob could already tell that the relationship was blossoming quickly.
Jill was away promoting her book Growing Up Duggar with her sisters Jana, Jessa, and Jinger when her boyfriend stopped by to talk to her father.
“Thanks for meeting with me this morning, I just wanted to talk to you about Jill and just the last six months of getting to know Jill, I’ve really enjoyed that time and wanted to ask you for her hand in marriage and your blessing on that,” Derick said to Jim Bob.
The two were introduced by Jim Bob after being prayer partners in church for over a year.
They held hands after the engagement, but waited until their wedding date to share their first kiss.
“It was worth the wait,” Jill said.
