One hundred of that 1,000 were Duggar's and Dillard's immediate family members.
Reality television star and father Jim Bob Duggar, 48, walked his daughter, Jill Duggar, 23, down the aisle this weekend, reports People Magazine.
Jill is one of 19 children of reality television personalities Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who star in TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. The show follows the lives of the Duggar family in rural Arkansas.
Jill married her fiance, Derick Dillard, 25, in a wedding ceremony that reportedly attracted more than 1,000 guests, including 100 immediate family members.
The couple exchanged vows at Cross Church in Springdale, Ark. Guests later snacked on 600 cupcakes, 3,000 chocolate-chip cookies and 3,000 root beer floats.
The wedding preparations were a collaborative affair.
“I’m so grateful to all the volunteers who helped put everything together for the wedding,” said the mother of the bride, to People Magazine. “Everyone has worked hard and done an amazing job.”
“We want to think about the importance of marriage,” said Jill, to the magazine. “And what it means to be married.”
To demonstrate this Jill displayed her mother’s wedding dress that Michelle wore nearly 30 years earlier to marry Jim Bob. Alongside her mother’s wedding dress, they displayed Dillard’s late father’s police uniform.
After the ceremony, the now Mr. and Mrs. Dillard left in a vintage truck with a cab filled with balloons. On the back window of the truck were the words, “Just Married.”
Notably, the young couple reserved their first kiss for their wedding day.
