Truck driver in Tracy Morgan crash was traveling 20 mph over the speed limit: NTSB report

Speed limit signs were posted that lowered the speed from 55 mph to 45 mph.

According to an accident investigation report released by the National Transportation Safety Board, the truck driver that caused the accident that critically injured Tracy Morgan and killed friend and fellow comedian James McNair on Saturday, June 7, was speeding.

“A preliminary review of the data showed that the Peterbilt combination vehicle was traveling at 65 mph for the 60 seconds preceding the collision with the Mercedes-Benz limo van,” the report reads. “NTSB investigators are correlating these data with the physical evidence.”

Less than half a mile south of the crash location, speed limit signs were posted that lowered the speed from 55 mph to 45 mph.

Morgan has been moved from the hospital to an undisclosed rehab facility, The Associated Press reports.

“While he is continuing to show signs of improvement, he still has a long way to go,” the comedian’s rep said in a statement.
