Despite broken leg, Harrison Ford is anxious to get back to work

Surgery on a broken leg isn't enough to stop Han Solo as production on the new Star Wars film continues on schedule.

Harrison Ford broke his leg on set of the new Star Wars film, but is “doing well” and wants to get back to work as soon as he can.

The 71-year-old actor is reprising his role as Han Solo after starring in the first three of the trilogy years ago. Fans are weary about Episode VII, but can’t help but be excited to see the original Han back in action alongside Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill — after he recovers from a surgery performed on his broken leg, that is.

It has been reported Ford broke his leg on set due to a garage door, leading many speculate the injury was caused by the door of the Millennium Falcon. Nevertheless, he was airlifted to a hospital and then taken in for surgery. Ford’s publicist said, “His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly. He’s doing well and looks forward to returning to work.”

The man behind Han Solo will miss about eight weeks of shooting, but that won’t put a halt to production. Things are still on schedule for the highly anticipated release date of December 18, 2015.

Again, longtime fans have been on the fence about the next wave of Star Wars films since Disney bought Lucasfilms in 2012 for a whopping $4 million.

Some can rest a little easier knowing that JJ Abrams is at the helm directing VII. Also, along with returning favorites like Ford and Fisher, the Episode VII will star Oscar Isaac, Girls’ Adam Driver, and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o.
