Jill's sister Jessa, who is currently dating Ben Seewald, has also decided to save the first kiss for her wedding day.
Jill Duggar, of 19 Kids and Counting fame, tied the knot with Derick Dillard on Saturday, People magazine reports. Jill and Derick exchanged vows in front of more than 1,000 friends and family at her Springdale, Arkansas, church.
According to the magazine, the rehearsal dinner was especially emotional for everyone who attended, as Jim Bob Duggar, Jill’s father, asked attendees to pray for Dillard’s mother, Cathy, who is dealing with cancer.
“I want to ask everyone to pray for my mom,” Dillard told People. “Anyone who has been through [cancer] knows what it is like, and if everyone could think of her, I know she would really appreciate it.”
As you can imagine, Jill, who is the second daughter in the Duggar family, and Derick had anything but a normal courtship.
After speaking only via video phone for several months, the couple met each other for the first time in May. Shortly after, Jill and Derick got engaged and began holding hands. They decided to save kissing and everything else for their wedding day/night.
“I think it is safer and makes it more special to wait to kiss until your wedding day,” Jill told People. “To save the physical side of your marriage for your wedding day and not going further than you should – we want to have no regrets.”
TV Guide says that Jill’s sister Jessa, who is currently dating Ben Seewald, has also decided to save the first kiss for her wedding day.
