Sandra Bullock's alleged stalker charged with arsenal weapons

A man accused of bulglarizing into Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock's home has now been charged with a cache of arsenal of machine guns and assault weapons.

Joshua James Corbett, 39, pleaded not guilty to breaking into Sandra Bullock’s home in Los Angeles on June 8. The man who was charged with stalking relating to the incident is now facing serious charges, according to Los Angeles district attorney’s office.

Police had found heavy weapons after searching Corbett’s home in Montrose, California.

On Tuesday afternoon, Corbett was charged with 19 felony counts, including seven counts of possessing a machine gun, two counts of possessing a machine gun and 10 counts of possessing a destructive device. The destructive devices were described as tracer ammunition.

His bail is set at $2 million.

Corbett entered Bullock’s property by allegedly climbing a chain-link, barbed wire fence around 5 a.m. on Sunday. He was in Bullock’s property for an hour before he was found. Los Angeles police responded to a “hot prowler” call at 6:30 a.m. Corbett was found “checking the yard,” according to Nuria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department. He was roaming inside of the home for more than an hour before he was found.

Bullock had discovered Corbett herself and locked herself in her room until authorities came.

Police spokeswoman said he was outside  of the house, but not on the property. According to prosecutors, “he was not in possession of the machine gun at the time of break-in.”

The man had no intention of breaking into her home and only wanted to spend some ‘face-to-face’ time with the actress according to police.

His lawyer said he had a mental illness and did not intend to do any harm to the actress.

Sandra Bullock, best known for movies like Gravity and Speed, has had to take out restraining orders against two previous stalkers.

If convicted of the new charges, Corbett could face up to 12 years in prison, said Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall said.
