Michelle Williams reunites Destiny's Child with a new single

The 90s pop trio appear in a music video to promote one of their singers.

Those three “Independent Women” have gotten back together once again. Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland, and Beyonce have reunited as Destiny’s Child for Williams’ new music video.

The trio appears in Williams’ new track Say Yes! which has been described as a contemporary dance-pop with Nigerian influences. Beyonce, sporting a long white poncho and braids, and Rowland each sing a verse of the song. The girls all come together on the chorus accompanied by dancers.

Destiny’s Child recorded the track together last month before the shoot date. The music video debuted Wednesday during Good Morning America where Williams talked about seeing her former group mates again.

“Working together with Destiny’s Child again was amazing. I am just so moved by this moment right now and to have my girls on there,” said Williams.

The last time the trio released a single was in January 2013 with the song Nuclear on their album “Love Songs.” They followed that single release with a surprise performance at the 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show which ended up being the second most-watched Halftime Show in history.

With nearly a year and half since their last performance, there was a lot of catching up to be done during the video shoot.

“We had so much fun. Sometimes the director or production assistants had to say… ‘OK, girls, bring it back home. Bring it back together’,” said Williams.

Destiny’s Child first formed in 1990 and Williams joined the group in 1999 as a backup singer for the album “The Writing’s on the Wall.” Williams officially became a front singer in 2001 with the release of their album “Survivor.”

Another reunion in the future for the pop trio may have to wait though. Rowland recently revealed that she was pregnant with her first child.

Williams’ new single Say Yes! will be on her upcoming album “Journey to Freedom” set to be released in September 2014.
