We have heard her roar. Pop singer Katy Perry has launched her new record label Metamorphosis Music which will be working jointly with Perry’s current label Capital Records. The newly formed record label has already signed its first artist.

Singer/songwriter Ferras Alqaisi will be the first to start releasing albums at Metamorphosis Music. Ferras’ self-titled EP was released on iTunes Tuesday and executive-produced by Perry herself. The five-track EP contains the duet with Ferras and Perry titled “Legends Never Die.”

Ferras took to Instagram to share his enthusiasm for the news.

“The secret is out! I’ve signed to my dear friend @katyperry’s new record label Metamorphosis Music. Today is the day that my EP is finally out and I’m so happy I now get to share it,” said Ferras.

The music newcomer did not just luck his way into success. Ferras was studying at Berklee College of Music when he was discovered by Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst. He went on to sign with Capital Records in 2007 which led to him meeting Perry.

“Ferras is a man with a message, and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold,” said Perry.

The 29-year-old artist and Perry developed a strong working relationship comprised of constructive criticism and admiration.

“Her instincts are really on point,” Ferras said, “She is very blunt and doesn’t sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner.”

Ferras can be seen next opening for Perry in the North American leg of her Prismatic World tour set to kick off on June 22 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
