'Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson gives birth to baby girl; Guess what she named her?

Clarkson had said previously that she wanted to get pregnant "right off the bat."

Just in time for Father’s Day, Kelly Clarkson, the winner of the first season of American Idol, has given birth to a baby girl.

“Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12th! Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!!” an overjoyed Clarkson tweeted on Saturday.

The Associated Press reports that this is Clarkson’s first child. She and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, tied the knot in 2013. The couple became engaged in December 2012.

In October of last year, Clarkson told the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show that she wanted to have kids “right off the bat.” Amazingly, she also predicted that her first child would be a girl.

“My first child will be a girl—I know it in my soul,” she said at the time.

While River certainly isn’t the strangest first name that a celebrity couple has given their child (Kim and Kanye’s child is named North West), it isn’t a typical name either.
