Goodbye Westeros: 'Game of Thrones' star Jason Momoa to play Aquaman

Rumors have surfaced for some time, but it's being said the "Game of Thrones" star will play the sea-based superhero.

It’s official!

‘Game of Thrones’ star Jason Momoa has been tapped to play in the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” film.

The actor best known as Khal Drogo, the warrior and head of the Dothraki, may be joining an already crowded cast of heroes. The list so far includes Ben Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenburg, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams.

HitFix suggests that Aquaman’s storyline will come from the fact that the World Engine caused damage to the Indian Ocean during Man of Steel’s final battle sequence which saw Superman and Zod destroy quite a bit of Earth’s terrain.

Jason Momoa found sudden and immediate success through Game of Thrones. While the actor hasn’t been on the show for a few seasons, he remains a fan favorite. Rumors of Momoa playing Aquaman role first surfaced late last year.  However, he has denied any connections up to this point.  Although the rumors have not been confirmed by producer Warner Bros., Director Zack Snyder has reportedly finalized his design plans for the character and shooting will ramp up soon.

Aquaman has ties to Entourage another HBO show that’s seen wide-popularity and follows the antics of an actor named Vincent Chase and his entourage. In the TV show, the series star, played by Adrian Grenier, first finds success by playing the aquatic super hero.

Aquaman was created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger in November 1941. The sea-based superhero has the ability to live under water and communicate telepathically with sea creatures. He also founded the Justice League. Despite his major role, His abilities have been mocked, as many believe his powers as useless in comparison to the other superheroes

“Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice” is expected to release on May 6, 2016. While Momoa will make an appearance in Dawn of Justice, he is set to have a much bigger role in Justice League. That is set to hit theaters in 2017.
