Today marks North “Nori” West’s first birthday.

North West is the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and this year the newlyweds are celebrating their daughter’s first birthday on Father’s Day.

This marks Kanye West’s second Father’s day as a father– the first of which was celebrated days after Nori’s birth. In many ways, having a daughter has seemed to have changed the rapper.

Kanye, who is notorious for not smiling, can been seen in touching family photos with North West riding his back with a wide grin planted on his face. Several other photos and new stories have surfaced over the past year providing a lot of insight into how much of a hands-on father Kanye is. However, Kim notes that he is not really “a diaper kind of guy.” Most people aren’t diaper people so this doesn’t speak poorly of his fathering skills.

Fatherhood seems to have had a profound effect on Kanye, who is known to cause quite the disruption. It’s not too long ago that Kanye West found himself the subject of tabloid fodder, after insulting well liked celebrities at award shows and facing an array of alleged criminal charges from misdemeanor criminal battery on a photographer to felony vandalism. It’s hard to imagine this type of person that does these things with a great father. However, things have really changed for Kanye West.

He was quoted as saying that his daughter inspires everything he does and about how North West impacts his music. It seems that other aspects of Kanye West’s life have been impacted by his daughter as well. So how appropriate that Kanye West will be able to celebrate how both his daughter and fatherhood have changed his life for the better this Father’s day.
