Samsung has finally released the long awaited Galaxy Tab S – a new high-resolution tablet that comes in either an 8.4-inch or a 10.5-inch display. With such a high-end tablet, many are wondering where and when they can get their hands on the device.

The good news for those living in the UK is that the Galaxy Tab S is now available for pre-order from Currys PC World, with prices starting at £329.99 for the 8.4-inch model, and £419.99 for the 10.5-inch model. These prices should cause a little competition between the new device and Apple’s iPad Mini and iPad Air, especially because of the fact that the Galaxy Tab S is around the same price as Apple’s tablets, with the iPad Mini starting at £319 and the iPad Air at £399.

The design of the device is similar to that of the Galaxy S5 smartphone, and at 6.6mm it’s slimmer than any other Samsung tablet available. It features a WQXGA Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, and it connects with the users smartphones and computers.

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S features either an Exynos Octa or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, depending on where in the world it’s purchased. It comes with 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of storage. It also includes an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. Lastly, it has a 7,900mAh battery, which should last for 11 hours.

The device has been available for pre-order in the US since Friday, a day after it’s New York announcement. The Galaxy Tab S will be released in the US and UK sometime in July, however the exact date that people can get their hands on the new tablet has yet to be confirmed.
