Kevin Costner plays catch in a field of dreams

25 years after the release of the popular film, Costner and the cast members of 'Field of Dreams' returned to the field where it all started.

The original cast members from the movie Field of Dreams reunited with each other twenty five years after the movie originally hit theaters.

Kevin Costner, now 59, reconnected in front of the film set’s white farm house with other cast members and NBC’s sportscaster, Bob Costas, to discuss how the movie’s themes of fatherhood and baseball related to Americans.

The film was about how Ray Kinsella, portrayed by Kevin Costner, has a vision one night of his cornfield as a baseball field. Because of the vision, Kinsella builds the field and starts seeing the ghosts of dead baseball players. Through the experience, he becomes better able to relate to his distant, and now deceased, father.

The film was critically acclaimed and ended up playing in theaters for many months in 1989. The American Film Institute recognized Field of Dreams as one of the top ten movies in the fantasy genre through their prestigious “Ten top Ten” lists.

Over the years, the movie’s location and set has drawn in many, many visitors who are looking to reconnect with the hugely popular movie. Some of the fans visit simply because it was a hugely successful movie. Other fans visit to feel connected with a movie that redefines some of the ways that sports and family interconnect, a theme made accessible throughout the film.

Kevin Costner has gone on from the Field of Dreams to remain very successful. He’s the winner of various awards, including Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. He has even more nominations for this work over the years.
