Supermodel Petra Nemcova on Miss Indiana's 'normal' body: 'I think it's fantastic'

Mekayla Diehl tweeted that she was "proud" of her body.

She may not have won the Miss USA 2014 competition on Sunday, but contestant Mekayla Diehl, also known as Miss Indiana, was given the thumbs up on Twitter for having a “normal” body.

One Twitter user wrote, “Dear #MissIndiana thank you for looking like an average woman. #SwimsuitCompetition.”

“I love how Miss Indiana isn’t crazy skinny,” another user added.

The 25-year-old woman said she was “proud” to be recognized for her figure. “I worked hard on my body without obsessing over being too skinny and I couldn’t be more proud,” Diehl tweeted on Monday.

Diehl spoke about the extra attention on Fox & Friends. “It’s quite overwhelming, in a positive way,” Diehl admitted.

“I wanted to just continue a healthy lifestyle and inspire others to go after their dreams,” she added. “I never imagined that it would be in a swimsuit.”

Miss Indiana was also praised by supermodel Petra Nemcova.

“I think it’s fantastic. Each person has a different body type. Some people are naturally skinny, some curvy. We have to celebrate all different shapes of the body. The main thing is to be healthy,” Nemcova told Fox & Friends.
